What the World Needs is Love!

Why is there so much hate in the World today? We only have to watch the news to see the hate displayed! We hear of one shooting after another! In the political world we hear deep seeded attacks on each of the opponents! What is the root of all this hate? What is missing?

Back in the sixties there was a saw written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach called, “What the World Needs Now is Love.”

What the world needs now is love, sweet love. It's the only thing that there's just too little of!
What the world needs now is love, sweet love. No, not just for some but for everyone

When they wrote those words the world was in turmoil and today these haven’t change much! While the writers of this song might have had a different idea of what love is, but it is so true that what this world needs is love, true love. The reason there is so much hate in the world is that mankind has pushed God out of the picture! We have pushed Him out of our schools, out of the family, and out of our individual lives! He is even out of some churches today by neglecting what His Word the Bible says! The result of pushing God out of our lives is that love is missing because God is Love!

Twice in the Bible we read, “God is love” (1 John 4:8, 16)! The best well know verse in the Bible is John 3:16, it is quoted everywhere, you even see it in the in-zone at football games, but you wonder do we really know what it means? What does it mean that God is love?"

Let’s look at how the Bible describes love, and then we will see a few ways in which God is the love. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). This is God's description of love, and because God is love (1 John 4:8), this is what He is like. It has often been said that you can substitute the Name of God the Father or His Son Jesus’ name for the word love, because God is love!

Love (God) does not force Himself on anyone. Those who come to Him do so in response to His love. Love (God) shows kindness to all. Love (Jesus) went about doing good; to everyone without partiality. Love (Jesus) did not covet what others had, living a humble life without complaining. Love (Jesus) did not brag about who He was and what He accomplished! Love (God) does not demand obedience.

The greatest expression of God's love is communicated to us in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” In Romans 5:8 Paul tells us that, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” We can see from these verses that it is God's greatest desire is for us to spend eternity with Him. He has made the way possible by paying the price for our sins. Love forgives; “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

To reject God is to reject love! Because Love is more than an attribute of God, it is who and what He is! Love is a core aspect of God’s character, His Person. God’s love is in no sense in conflict with His holiness, righteousness, justice, or even His wrath. All of God’s attributes are in perfect harmony. Everything God does is loving, just as everything He does is just and right. God is the perfect example of true love.

This world has rejected God and is filled with hate! Instead of displaying love, hatred and violence are seen more and more! How true are these words?

What the world needs now is love, sweet love. It's the only thing that there's just too little of!
What the world needs now is love, sweet love. No, not just for some but for everyone

Because the worlds needs God’s sweet love that has been displayed at the Cross where His Son gave His life as the payment for our sin! Amazingly, God has given those who receive His Son Jesus as their personal Savior the ability to love as He does, through the power of the Holy Spirit (John 1:12; 1 John 3:1, 23-24, Romans 5:5). If you have not experience the love of God, why not accept His love, by accepting the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If you already know His love then share it with a world who needs this Love today!
