Christ Or Hope (Part three)

WITH such a knowledge of our circumstances, we know the temptation of fighting our own battles, and the fruitless effort of making, in the least degree, any headway against our spiritual foes. We know, that in our own wisdom and strength, we have no expectation of pleasing God in any respect, and thus, we have no expectation of really being a Christian.

John 7:18 "He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh His glory that sent Him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him."

1 Corinthians 3:18-19 "Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness."

Jeremiah 9:23-24 "Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD."

Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags"

Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Psalm 127:1 "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."

Psalm 60:11 "Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man."

1 Corinthians 3:20 "And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain."

1 Corinthians 1:20 "Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?"

Romans 1:22 "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools"
